This book, about two feral children found in India
in the 1920s and brought to an orphanage, is the second in a series
of real-life mysteries for kids. The first, The
Mystery of the Mary Celeste, has been well received. This
series, though difficult since they involve a huge amount of research,
is so much fun to work on. While some stories my mother and I
collaborate on are written by passing them back and forth on the
internet, the Unsolved Mysteries from History series we have to
do in one place. Which will be much easier since as of June 2002
we are living in the same state (in the same house, to be exact)
for the first time in 18 years. My mother does the typing while
I work with the research spread around me. Luckily, we work very
well together--I even win some arguments! The third book in this
series is about The Lost Colony of Roanoke; we have just finished
another round of editing and the illustrations look FABULOUS!
It will be coming out a soon. The fourth, about the Salem Witch
Trials is being illustrated as we speak. We are about to begin
research for number five--Amelia Earhart.
